Who Qualifies For Your Bursary Or University Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application procedure.

Applications at the moment are open and can close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant must meet the following requirements:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who arises from a home that has a combined gross home income that does not exceed R350 000 per annum.

• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined home earnings doesn't exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and wish not submit any evidence of income.

*** Loan website Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent citizens from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.

Applicants are reminded to provide the proper Identity Doc numbers, names, and surname, as reflected of their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are studying or intend to research in a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
